President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla have praised five outstanding local governments for their commitment to child welfare. The Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC) recognizes these local governments for their exceptional efforts in creating safe, inclusive, and participatory communities for children. The awardees were selected from among 1,091 local governments nationwide that passed this year's Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit. But here's where it gets controversial... Some argue that the criteria for the award are too narrow and may not fully capture the diverse needs of children in different communities. And this is the part most people miss... The PACFMC focuses on local governments that have implemented outstanding programs and policies, but it may not address the systemic issues that affect children's welfare, such as poverty, inequality, and lack of access to education and healthcare. So, what do you think? Do you agree with the criteria for the PACFMC? Or do you think there are other factors that should be considered? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
