Chery's Tiggo 5L: A Compact SUV with Plug-in Hybrid Option and Vertical Touchscreen
Chery is set to unveil its latest compact SUV, the Tiggo 5L, in 2026. This new model is a smaller sibling to the recently updated Tiggo 8, offering both traditional gasoline and plug-in hybrid options. Spy photos reveal a sleek interior with a vertical touchscreen, wireless charging, and a multifunction wheel, mirroring the design language of the Tiggo 8.
The Tiggo 5L's exterior continues the Tiggo 8's styling cues, featuring split-type headlamps, a radial grille pattern, and a full-width lower air intake. The coupe-like roofline and traditional door handles give it a youthful, dynamic look. Under the hood, Chery's modular T1X platform powers both a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine and a plug-in hybrid variant, catering to customers' diverse preferences.
Positioned below the 2026 Tiggo 8, the 5L offers a smaller alternative while retaining many design and technology elements. The upcoming Tiggo 8, known as the fifth-generation model in China, boasts four trims with prices ranging from 99,900 to 129,900 yuan (approximately 13,200–17,200 USD).
With its plug-in hybrid option and modern features, the Tiggo 5L promises to be a competitive addition to Chery's SUV lineup, appealing to a wide range of car enthusiasts.
