Arteta on Havertz, Dowman, and Gyokeres: A Positive Update
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal FC, provided an optimistic update on the team's fitness and performance ahead of the upcoming London derby against Chelsea. During a press conference at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, Arteta shared his thoughts on several key players, including Kai Havertz, Max Dowman, and Viktor Gyokeres.
Following the recent 4-1 victory over Tottenham, Arteta confirmed that there are no new injury concerns. He mentioned that the team is awaiting the final training session to determine the availability of some players who missed the previous match.
Arteta expressed optimism about the return of Max Dowman, who is expected to play a few minutes with the under-21s tonight. Additionally, Kai Havertz is set to train tomorrow, and Arteta will assess his fitness for the Chelsea game.
The manager highlighted the importance of players returning from injuries stronger, and Viktor Gyokeres has exemplified this. Despite missing time in November and December, Gyokeres has been in exceptional form, scoring eight goals in his last twelve games, including a brace in the victory over Tottenham.
Arteta attributed Gyokeres' success to a positive cycle. He explained that scoring the first goal boosts performance, as it increases time on the field with teammates, enhances understanding of the game, opponents, and the league. Arteta praised Gyokeres' qualities, emphasizing his status as an incredible striker. He also stressed the need to further develop the player's understanding of the team and the league, indicating a positive trajectory for the team's overall performance.
